This call follows Council’s July 2025 approval to proceed with a public participation process for the release of the site, in line with the City’s commitment to unlock the potential of underused municipal assets for public benefit and economic growth.

The property under consideration is a 2.2 hectare portion of Remainder Erf 13601, located at 21 La Belle Road, Stikland, Bellville, and currently zoned Open Space 2: Public Open Space.

The site has direct access to the R300 Freeway via Strand and Bottelary Roads. It is bordered by Stikland Industria to the north, Access City retail complex to the south, and Stikland Cemetery across La Belle Road to the west- positioning it strategically for long-distance bus transport and related commercial activities.

The proposal seeks to provide the private sector with the opportunity to develop a permanent long-distance bus terminus to serve Bellville and surrounding areas with supporting retail and commercial development to activate the precinct and improve passenger and commuter experiences.

The proposed LDBT could accommodate multiple bus holding bays, passenger facilities, and on-site amenities, alongside retail and commercial components that strengthen the precinct’s economic viability.
